She was advised against using a skincare product, containing the active ingredient hydroquinone, to treat her hyperpigmentation, as it wasn’t safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. However, the doctor couldn’t recommend a natural alternative that would deliver the same results.

This conversation ignited Emma’s determination to explore the realm of natural skincare. She quickly realised that, at that time, natural skincare often came with compromises in innovation, luxury, and scientifically backed results. Her research led her to the work of Nobel Prize Winner Frances Arnold, whose groundbreaking discoveries showed that nature is the most powerful bioengineer. Inspired, Emma realised that by harnessing science to unlock the power of nature, it was possible to deliver a new era of efficacy in skincare.

Having forged a successful corporate career as a senior executive in a global technology company, Emma had not set out to create her own business. However, her conviction grew that people should never have to choose between effective skincare and products that are safe to use throughout all chapters of life. Fueled by her tenacity and passion for problem-solving, Emma recognised an opportunity to create fundamentally better solutions that would deliver skincare without compromise.

Over three years, Emma worked alongside physiologists and biochemists to understand how the skin functions and how working in harmony with it could achieve superior results.
